Michael Saylor's Strategy boosts Bitcoin holdings as STRC preferred stock pause deepens

Strategy, the bitcoin‑focused investment vehicle led by Michael Saylor, reported a third consecutive weekly purchase of roughly 520 BTC for about $34.9 million, bringing its total holdings to approximately 847,000 BTC valued at around $54 billion. The purchases were funded through sales of common stock, not the STRC perpetual preferred shares, which have fallen below their $100 par value and prompted a pause in further STRC issuances. Earlier in June, Strategy added 1,587 BTC and 1,550 BTC in back‑to‑back weeks, underscoring an aggressive accumulation strategy despite market volatility.

Saylor has highlighted the company’s recovery from a 2022 balance‑sheet stress, noting that Strategy has added more than 716,000 BTC since that drawdown and now holds a reserve buffer estimated at $48 billion over its debt. He also called for unity among bitcoin supporters, urging the community to focus on the “99 % that matters” rather than minor disputes. The ongoing debate in the crypto community reflects concerns that Saylor’s buying could sway market dynamics, while analysts watch whether the firm’s continued accumulation stabilises bitcoin prices amid broader macro‑economic pressures.
