Yogyakarta businesses focus on AI adoption and investment growth

Business leaders and financial institutions in Yogyakarta are focusing on digital transformation and investment growth. At a Bank Indonesia (BI) event titled ‘Stay Relevant, Stay Resilient: Strategy to Grow in an Era of Change’, Dahlan Iskan shared business strategies to help entrepreneurs navigate technological shifts and changing consumer behaviors.

In a related effort to modernize the local economy, workshops have been held to encourage Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) for marketing and product identity. Experts emphasized that while AI can assist in creating promotional materials and market research, users must remain vigilant regarding data security and information accuracy.

Meanwhile, the financial sector in Yogyakarta shows significant growth, with mutual fund investors reaching 375,672 Single Investor Identifications (SID) as of August 2026, a 40.16% year-on-year increase. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) noted this trend reflects growing public optimism in investment instruments, though they stressed the importance of increasing financial literacy to ensure informed decision-making.
