Michael Strahan defends interview with ALS‑diagnosed former NFL star Chris Johnson

Former New York Giants defensive end and Good Morning America co‑host Michael Strahan conducted a televised interview with former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson, who used the platform to disclose his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). After the interview aired, some viewers and commentators criticized Strahan for not asking Johnson about a possible link between ALS and the head injuries sustained during his football career, including chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Strahan responded on the Dan Patrick Show, saying the interview was Johnson’s moment to share his story and that he was there to serve Johnson’s wishes, not to grandstand or create a headline.
