Michael Sullivan and Alma Djem release reggae version of ‘Me Dê Motivo’

Michael Sullivan and the band Alma Djem have released a reggae reimagining of the classic song ‘Me Dê Motivo’. Originally composed by Sullivan and Paulo Massadas and made famous by Tim Maia in 1983, the new version features shared vocals between Sullivan and Alma Djem vocalist Marcelo Mira.

The collaboration originated from Marcelo Mira’s desire to compose with Sullivan, a key influence on his musical development. Facilitated by Edison Coelho, the creative sessions resulted in five new songs, including ‘Passarinho’. The release of ‘Me Dê Motivo’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Rafa Andrade and produced by Zal Creator, filmed at Sullivan’s studio.

Sullivan noted that the reggae arrangement aims to give the song a new life and ensure it remains relevant for new generations of listeners.
