Michael Toglia to undergo shoulder surgery, ending season

Cincinnati Reds player Michael Toglia is expected to undergo surgery to repair a dislocated right shoulder, likely ending his 2026 season. The injury occurred during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks when Toglia attempted a diving catch in left field.

While initial reports following the incident suggested optimism due to negative X-rays and a lack of immediate pain, manager Terry Francona confirmed that surgery is now required. The Reds have placed Toglia on the 10-day injured list and recalled Ivan Johnson from Triple-A Louisville.

In separate news from the same matchup against the Diamondbacks, Reds outfielder JJ Bleday hit for the cycle. Bleday became only the eighth player in franchise history to achieve the feat and the first Reds player to do so on the road since 1915.
