Michael Vaughan criticizes 43% Ashes ticket price hike at Edgbaston

Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan has criticized a 43% increase in ticket prices for the 2027 men’s Ashes Test at Edgbaston, describing the hike as ‘really poor’.

The price increase was revealed following the opening of the ticket ballot on September 2, 2026. In the Hollies Stand, which accommodates nearly 6,000 spectators, prices have risen to £165 from £115 in 2023. While Edgbaston members can access seats for £92, the minimum price for adult tickets during the first three days of the Test is £115, plus a £2.50 booking fee.

Edgbaston is currently operating at a reduced capacity due to the construction of an on-site hotel. Despite the sharp percentage increase, Edgbaston remains more affordable than other major venues for the series; premium tickets at Lord’s are listed at £190 and the Oval at £185. The 2027 Ashes series between England and Australia will feature five Tests, with the Edgbaston fixture scheduled to begin on July 8.
