Michael Venom Page criticizes UFC over contract departure

British mixed martial artist Michael Venom Page has expressed disappointment following his departure from the UFC. Despite securing a unanimous decision victory over Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC Paris—marking his fifth win in six fights—the organization decided not to offer him a new contract.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Page described the manner of his exit as “quite disrespectful.” He noted that he learned of the decision at the same time as the media and fans, and expressed frustration that he was not granted a post-fight interview to address the crowd in Paris. Page had hoped for a discussion regarding his future, even if it involved renegotiating financial terms, rather than a sudden termination of his tenure.

While Page acknowledged that his recent fighting style has been criticized for a lack of action, he maintained that his success should have led to further opportunities. He indicated that while he felt he was not performing at his absolute peak, he still expected to sit down at the negotiating table with the organization.
