Michail Antonio in court over Lamborghini driver identification
Michail Antonio, the 36-year-old Watford striker and former West Ham player, has appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court regarding allegations that he failed to identify the driver of a Lamborghini involved in a driving offence in central London.
The Metropolitan Police allege that Antonio, the registered keeper of a Lamborghini Urus, did not respond to correspondence requesting the identity of the driver following an incident on Pall Mall in November last year. Antonio has contested the claims, stating that the vehicle was on hire at the time of the contravention and that he possesses a hire agreement as proof.
During proceedings, Antonio and witnesses suggested that official police correspondence may have been lost in the mail. He previously faced a similar prosecution in Birmingham regarding the same vehicle, for which he had sought to reopen the case. Antonio now faces the possibility of a driving ban.
