Michail Antonio joins Watford on free transfer
Michail Antonio, the 36-year-old former West Ham striker and Jamaica international, has signed a one-year contract with Watford on a free transfer. The move marks his return to English football following a stint with Qatari club Al-Sailiya.
Antonio’s career faced a significant setback in December 2024 after a severe car accident in Essex, which resulted in a broken leg and required extensive rehabilitation. After recovering and playing for the Jamaican national team, he has now joined Watford in the Championship.
Watford manager Alessio Dionisi expects the experienced forward to provide leadership to the club’s young squad. Antonio expressed his enthusiasm for joining the club, stating, “Watford is a big club and I hope I can come, bring success and help wherever I can.”
