Michal Šašek to lead Czech Radio studios in Plzeň and Karlovy Vary

Michal Šašek has been appointed to lead the Czech Radio studios in Plzeň and Karlovy Vary, effective October 15. The announcement was made by Czech Radio Director General René Zavoral during a meeting of the Radio Council.

Šašek succeeds David Jakš, who transitioned to a role as a foreign correspondent in Asia. Šašek brings extensive experience in media and public institutions, having served as a deputy to the Minister of Culture between 2022 and 2025. During his tenure, he was involved in audiovisual legislation and the transformation of the State Film Fund into the State Audiovisual Fund.

His primary objectives include modernizing broadcasting to better connect with listeners and increasing regional engagement through improved information services, such as traffic updates and more frequent field reporting. Šašek aims to ensure the stations act as visible, respected partners for local governments and community organizations, adhering to the motto ‘Radio of your region’.
