Michal Koudelka warns of Russian disinformation threats

Michal Koudelka, the outgoing head of the Czech Security Information Service (BIS), addressed current security threats during a seminar at the Chamber of Deputies. Koudelka highlighted several historical and contemporary issues, including attempts to link the Czech Republic to the Novichok attack in Salisbury, questioning the Russian sabotage in Vrbětice, efforts to involve Rosatom in the Dukovany nuclear project, and the entry of Huawei into the national 5G network.

Koudelka specifically warned of ongoing Russian-backed disinformation campaigns on social media. These attacks target various political figures, including President Putin and Prime Minister Babiš, as well as the spouses of European politicians. He noted that narratives often involve accusations of greed and gluttony, frequently accompanied by AI-generated fake photographs targeting individuals such as the Czech First Lady.
