Michal Prokop celebrates 80th birthday at Krásný ztráty festival
Czech singer and songwriter Michal Prokop celebrated his 80th birthday at the Krásný ztráty festival in Všetice. The event featured a special performance by American soul and gospel legend Mavis Staples, marking her first appearance in the Czech Republic. Staples performed a repertoire including songs from The Staple Singers, covers such as Buffalo Springfield’s ‘For What It’s Worth’, and material from her solo album ‘Sad and Beautiful World’.
During the festival, Prokop and his band Framus Five also christened their new live album, ‘Live 80!’, which captures a recording of his previous Christmas concert. This milestone marks the beginning of Prokop’s ‘Live 80’ jubilee tour, which is set to culminate in a traditional Christmas concert at Prague’s Foro Karlín on December 21. Prokop noted that his recent success at the Anděl Awards, where he won Album of the Year for ‘Ostraka’ and Solo Artist of the Year, serves as a sign of his continued vitality as a performer.
