Michal Rada named European Athletics Rising Star
Czech hurdler Michal Rada has been named a Rising Star by European Athletics. The 19-year-old, a junior world champion in the 400m hurdles, becomes the second Czech athlete to receive this distinction, following in the footsteps of Pavel Maslák.
Rada's recognition follows his performance at the junior championships in Eugene, where he set a new European junior record with a time of 48.59 seconds. He noted that this marks his third consecutive nomination for the award.
In the main categories, Swiss middle-distance runner Audrey Werrow was named Best Female Athlete, succeeding Femke Bol. Italian high jumper Gianmarco Tamberi was named Best Male Athlete, taking over the title from Armand Duplantis.
