Michaël Randrianirina to attend Russia-Africa Summit and concludes election talks

Madagascar's Michaël Randrianirina is expected to attend the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow on October 28 and 29. Leading a significant delegation, Randrianirina will join Vladimir Putin and other African leaders to discuss strategic sectors including trade, investment, security, energy, and technological cooperation. This marks his second official visit to Russia within a year, following a meeting with Putin in February 2026.

Domestically, Randrianirina has also overseen extensive consultations at the Iavoloha State Palace to prepare for upcoming elections. These sessions, which concluded in early September, involved over 80 political parties, civil society organizations, traditional authorities, and international partners. The initiative aims to create a transparent and inclusive electoral process by incorporating proposals from youth groups, religious leaders, and various political collectives to prevent future political crises.
