Michalis Chrysochoidis addresses Alket Rizai escape

Greek Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis has addressed the escape of Alket Rizai, a convict who failed to return to Domokos prison following the expiration of a leave period. Chrysochoidis noted that Rizai had previously been granted 16 such leaves. While the Minister stated that he personally would have disagreed with granting leave to this specific individual, he emphasized that the process is governed by law rather than personal discretion.

Chrysochoidis also responded to criticisms from Marinos Skandamis, the current head of Citizen Protection for the SYRIZA party. The Minister challenged Skandamis regarding his previous role as Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, questioning whether Skandamis had overseen the same prisoner leave processes during his tenure. Chrysochoidis asserted that Rizai will be apprehended like any other fugitive and defended the efficiency of the police force.
