Michalis Chrysochoidis launches KOMBOS traffic management unit
Greek Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis has announced the launch of ‘KOMBOS’, a new operational unit of the Hellenic Police designed to manage traffic in the Attica region. The system utilizes motorcycles, cameras, drones, and artificial intelligence to provide real-time command and control. By integrating data from 24 different sources, the initiative aims to improve traffic flow and achieve a 25% to 30% reduction in travel time.
Regarding the severe issue of telephone fraud, Chrysochoidis described the situation as an ‘epidemic.’ He noted that fraudsters have established operational call centers to systematically strip individuals of their assets. The Minister also addressed the chronic traffic congestion on Kifisou Avenue, stating that while the issue is difficult to resolve due to decades of increased vehicle volume, the new technological tools are intended to facilitate better movement for citizens.
