Michalis Chrysochoidis sets two-month review for Attica traffic operation

Greek Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis has set a two-month timeline to provide a full report on the effectiveness of the ‘Kombos’ operation in managing traffic across Attica. While noting that conditions in the city have improved slightly, he highlighted that traffic remains difficult in critical areas such as Kifissos due to minor accidents and immobilized vehicles.

Chrysochoidis emphasized that the capacity of the Traffic Police has tripled, supported by new officers and specialized guards, leading to thousands of alcohol tests nationwide. Additionally, the Minister addressed criminal policy, stating that while prisoner release permits require stricter oversight regarding how they are granted, the total abolition of such permits would be ‘inhumane.’ He also touched upon the need for new prison facilities as part of a broader security strategy.
