Michel Bezuijen reappointed as mayor of Zoetermeer

Michel Bezuijen has been reappointed as the mayor of Zoetermeer for a second six-year term. He officially took the oath of office before the King's Commissioner of South Holland, Wouter Kolff.

Bezuijen, who has served as mayor since 2020, expressed gratitude for the continued trust. He noted that his first term began during the exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. Looking forward, he intends to focus on public order, safety, and strengthening cooperation between the municipal government, residents, and local businesses.

As Zoetermeer has grown significantly over the last sixty years—increasing from 11,000 to 131,000 inhabitants—Bezuijen highlighted the need for urban renovation and investment in infrastructure, schools, and sports and cultural facilities to address the challenges of a growing city.
