Míchel Salgado appointed head coach of North Esporte Clube

Míchel Salgado, the former Real Madrid defender and Spanish international, has been announced as the new head coach of North Esporte Clube for the 2027 season. Based in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, the club will compete in the Campeonato Mineiro, the Copa do Brasil, and the Brazilian Série D during that year.

Salgado, 50, holds a UEFA Pro license. His recent coaching experience includes serving as an assistant for the Egyptian national team and managing the Saudi Arabia U-15 national team. He also previously held a role as sporting director for Pafos in Cyprus.

Founded in 2022, North Esporte Clube is a relatively young club that has seen rapid growth, recently securing its first spots in national competitions after winning the Troféu Inconfidência. Salgado will succeed Kléberson, a former World Cup winner, as the team prepares for its debut in national-level football.
