Michela Cescon debuts as director with Desiderio

Actress Michela Cescon has made her directorial debut with the film ‘Desiderio’, an adaptation of a novel by Giorgio Montefoschi. Set in Rome, the film explores a romantic connection between two characters, Matteo and Livia, whose lives diverge in the late 1980s when Livia moves to England.

The narrative follows their reunion years later in the Italian capital. Matteo, now a journalist with a stable family, faces the temptation to abandon his conventional life when Livia reappears under mysterious circumstances. The film, starring Romana Maggiora Vergano and Enrico Borello, was presented at the 21st Festa del Cinema di Romanella in October 2026.
