Michele Affidato celebrated in Bianco for goldsmithing achievements

The town of Bianco hosted a celebration for master goldsmith Michele Affidato at the Vecchia Pardesca, an ancient abandoned village featuring a 15th-century church. Affidato, originally from Crotone, has achieved international recognition for his work in goldsmithing and sacred art, serving as a goldsmith to the Popes and a member of the Church of Artists in Rome.

The event highlighted his artistic journey and his connection to his Calabrian roots. The celebration also noted the artistic contributions of his children, specifically Antonio Affidato, a university professor and sculptor. Antonio is scheduled to hold an exhibition at the Museo dei Bronzi in early September, showcasing contemporary sculpture influenced by classical traditions.

The gathering was attended by various political and cultural figures, including the Mayor of Bianco, Giovanni Versace, and regional representatives, emphasizing the importance of the Calabrian diaspora and local cultural heritage.
