Michele Placido presents Livatino miniseries at Rome Film Festival

Director Michele Placido presented the preview of the miniseries ‘Livatino – Il giudice e i suoi assassini’ at the Rome Film Festival. The event, held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, was attended by Italian President Sergio Mattarella.

The series depicts the final two years of magistrate Rosario Livatino, who was murdered by the Stidda criminal organization in 1990 at the age of 37. Giuseppe De Domenico portrays Livatino, while Beniamino Marcone and David Coco play Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, respectively.

During the presentation, Placido called for Italian cinema to produce more works focused on civil commitment and social responsibility. He suggested that the national broadcaster, Rai, could play a larger role in supporting such storytelling and young directors.
