Michele Tafoya cites Feeding Our Future scandal in Minnesota Senate bid

Republican Senate candidate Michele Tafoya has cited the Feeding Our Future scandal as a central issue in her campaign against Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan in Minnesota. Tafoya stated that many Minnesotans feel “embarrassed” by the level of fraud occurring within the state.

The Feeding Our Future program, which was championed by Representative Ilhan Omar to provide meals to children during the COVID-19 pandemic, was at the center of a scheme involving at least $250 million. Tafoya alleged that while organizer Aimee Bock was sentenced to 500 months in prison, there has been a lack of accountability within the administration of Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan.

Tafoya further claimed that whistleblowers who attempted to raise red flags regarding the program were silenced or reassigned to different departments.
