Michelin celebrates 55 years of its Spinetta Marengo plant
Michelin is celebrating the 55th anniversary of its Spinetta Marengo plant in the province of Alessandria, Italy. Founded in 1971, the facility specializes in truck tire production and employs approximately 950 people, with an annual production capacity of nearly 1.2 million tires.
The company highlighted its focus on sustainability and the ‘Multivite’ model, which emphasizes tire longevity through retreading and rebuilding to reduce resource consumption and CO2 emissions.
Regarding environmental targets, the site reported a 64% reduction in water consumption by the end of 2025 compared to 2019, exceeding the group's 2030 goal of a 50% reduction five years ahead of schedule. Additionally, following the renewal of its thermal plant with electric heat pumps and green energy, the facility is expected to meet its 2030 energy and CO2 consumption objectives by January 1, 2027.
