Michelin Guide to reveal 2026 Texas selections without Houston ceremony

The Michelin Guide has announced that its 2026 Texas restaurant selections will be revealed on October 8. In a departure from previous years, the organization will not host an awards ceremony in Houston.

For the 2024 and 2025 editions, Michelin held elaborate ceremonies in Houston to recognize chefs and restaurateurs. The 2026 rollout will instead be conducted via press release and digital channels.

Michelin expanded into Texas in 2024, initially focusing on Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio. The guide uses anonymous inspectors to evaluate restaurants based on product quality, cooking techniques, flavor harmony, chef personality, and consistency. Recognitions include Michelin Stars, Bib Gourmands, and Recommended status.

Previous expansions in the state have seen the number of recognized restaurants grow to 140. The guide's initial three-year commitment to Texas included a $900,000 partnership with Travel Texas and local tourism organizations, though no announcement has been made regarding the continuation of these specific partnerships.
