Michelin introduces new grape ratings for Bordeaux wineries

Michelin has introduced a new rating system for wineries, known as the ‘Michelin Grape’, which evaluates entire estates rather than individual wines. The evaluation is based on five criteria: agronomy, technical mastery, identity, balance, and consistency.

Bordeaux is among the first regions to receive these distinctions. Out of 84 Bordeaux wineries tested, nine achieved the highest rating of three Michelin grapes. The awards are issued across four levels, ranging from ‘Recommended’ to the three-grape distinction, which signifies producers that can be trusted blindly regardless of the vintage.
