Flávio Bolsonaro flees Brazil for the United States via Argentina FAST-MOVING

Brazilian Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has fled to the United States following his defeat in the presidential election by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Bolsonaro departed Brazil despite a judicial order to surrender his passports related to ongoing money laundering and corruption investigations.

According to reports, Bolsonaro and his family crossed the Tancredo Neves International Bridge into Argentina, using an Italian passport. From Puerto Iguazú, they reportedly boarded a private Gulfstream G400 jet, traveling through Ecuador before arriving in Miami, Florida. Investigations are ongoing regarding whether Argentine public resources were used to facilitate the transit.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the U.S. government was not directly involved in the departure, noting that Bolsonaro already held a visa. Former President Donald Trump commented that Bolsonaro may remain in the United States for as long as he wishes.

In Brazil, the departure has caused diplomatic tension. The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Argentina’s chargé d’affaires to request explanations regarding the potential involvement of the Argentine government in the flight. Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno denied that any formal request for explanations was made.
