Michelle Cantò finishes 16th in European race walking debut

Race walker Michelle Cantò achieved a 16th-place finish in her European Championship debut during the 21.097 km event. Despite a challenging course in Birmingham featuring significant climbs, descents, and irregular cobblestone surfaces, Cantò improved her position from 19th to 16th in the final kilometers, finishing with a time of 1h 37’59”.

Representing Atletica Gran Sasso Teramo, the athlete set a new personal best for the 10 km split at the halfway mark with a time of 46’22”. The race was won by Spain’s Maria Perezin, followed by Alexandrina Mihai of Italy and Lyudmila Olyanovska of Ukraine.
