Michelle Hadley exonerated after elaborate plot to frame her for stalking and sexual assault

Michelle Hadley, who was arrested in Anaheim, California, in 2016, faced life in prison following allegations that she stalked and threatened Angela Diaz, the wife of her former fiancé, Ian Diaz. The accusations included claims that Hadley had posted “rape fantasy” advertisements on Craigslist to orchestrate sexual assaults against Diaz.

Investigations eventually revealed that the allegations were part of an elaborate plot designed to frame Hadley as an obsessive stalker. Hadley spent 88 days in jail before the truth emerged. Her parents, Michael and Suzanne Hadley, supported her through the legal ordeal, which included posting $100,000 bail during her initial arrest before ultimately prioritizing legal counsel when a second arrest occurred with a $1 million bail requirement.

Ian Diaz, who was a deputy U.S. Marshal at the time, was the former fiancé of Hadley. Following the resolution of the case, Hadley has worked to rebuild her life a decade after the events.
