Michigan celebrates September with seasonal activities and arts events

Michigan enters September with a variety of seasonal activities and cultural events. In Muskegon County, residents and visitors can continue outdoor activities such as walking along Lake Michigan at Pere Marquette Beach, taking cruises with the Aquastar, or touring the Muskegon South Pierhead Light and the White River Light Station.

Across the state, the arts sector is seeing increased activity. Detroit is observing the Month of Design, focusing on innovative problem-solving through design. In West Michigan, the Grand Rapids Art Museum is debuting ‘A Shared Vision: The Glen W. Johnson and Thomas P. Merchant Collection,’ featuring works by artists including Andy Warhol and Kara Walker. Other regional highlights include the Fallasburg Arts Fest in Lowell, the 97th Michigan Contemporary Art Exhibition, and various photography and abstract art exhibits in Ferndale and Ann Arbor.
