Michigan football coach delays quarterback decision for Rutgers game
Michigan Wolverines head coach Kyle Whittingham has declined to name a starting quarterback ahead of the upcoming game against Rutgers. The decision follows a period of uncertainty at the position after freshman Tommy Carr replaced sophomore Bryce Underwood during a recent matchup against Penn State.
Carr recently started against Indiana, where the Wolverines suffered a 13-6 overtime loss. During that game, Carr completed 20 of 32 passes for 167 yards but also recorded a costly interception and a lost fumble. Whittingham stated that the starting lineup will be determined early in the week to ensure the chosen player receives maximum practice repetitions.
Whittingham noted that the coaching staff aims to avoid weekly uncertainty regarding the starting signal-caller. The decision-making process is intended to identify which player provides the best opportunity to win the upcoming contest.
