Michigan football seeks to improve struggling rushing offense

The Michigan Wolverines are working to revitalize a struggling rushing offense that currently ranks 91st in college football, averaging just over 147 yards per game. Offensive coach Jason Beck noted that while the team is making progress, the perimeter run game has been particularly ineffective, averaging only 2.5 yards per carry through the first four games.

To address these challenges, the program is looking toward its running back depth. Junior Jordan Marshall is expected to continue as the primary starter due to his physical, stalwart style, though his tendency to invite heavy contact poses injury risks. He is complemented by freshman Savion Hiter, whose athleticism provides a different dimension to the backfield.

Coach Beck emphasized the need for more physical play and a potential shift in run calling to improve results, noting that the team must either improve its current schemes or move away from those that are not producing.
