Michigan gas prices increase by 32 cents in one week
Gasoline prices in Michigan have surged by an average of 32 cents per gallon over the past week. Drivers in the state are now paying an average of $4.83 for regular unleaded fuel.
In Metro Detroit, prices are even higher, averaging approximately $4.89 per gallon, which is the highest rate in the state. Other areas seeing elevated costs include Ann Arbor and Flint, both averaging $4.81 per gallon. The lowest reported averages were in Marquette at $4.65, Benton Harbor at $4.75, and Jackson at $4.77.
Industry experts attribute the spike to fluctuating oil prices, noting that crude oil has risen above $100 per barrel. Data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) indicates that U.S. crude oil inventories decreased by 3.1 million barrels, while domestic gasoline demand has increased.
