Michigan hockey prepares for series against No. 1 Denver and future outdoor matchup
The University of Michigan men's ice hockey team is set for high-profile matchups against top-ranked opponents. The No. 2 ranked Wolverines will face No. 1 Denver in a two-game series starting Friday, October 16, at Magness Arena. This series marks the first regular-season meeting between the two programs since 1981. Denver enters the series as the defending national champions, having defeated Wisconsin in the 2024 semifinals.
Looking ahead to the 2027 season, Michigan will participate in the Frozen Tundra Faceoff at Lambeau Field. This outdoor event will feature the Wolverines against the University of Wisconsin Badgers. The matchup is part of a doubleheader that also includes a women's game between Ohio State and Wisconsin. Michigan's participation in the 2027 event will mark the program's 11th outdoor game, the most of any NCAA hockey program.
