Michigan identifies most dangerous intersections for 2025

New 2025 data from the Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Reporting Unit identifies the state's most dangerous intersections, with a heavy concentration of incidents in Southeast Michigan. Statistics show that approximately one-third of all car crashes and 30% of fatal crashes in Michigan occur at intersections.

The most dangerous intersection identified is the roundabout at 18 1/2 Mile Rd and Van Dyke Ave in Sterling Heights, which recorded 210 crashes and 12 injuries. Other high-frequency locations include the intersection of 11 Mile Rd/I 696 and Van Dyke Ave in Warren/Center Line, which saw 180 crashes and one fatality.

Roundabouts feature prominently in the top rankings, accounting for four of the top six most dangerous intersections in the state. While most high-crash locations are in the southeast, Grand Rapids recorded two intersections within the top 20 list.
