The NCAA has denied the appeal, stating it lacks the authority to overturn a completed game result. According to the NCAA rulebook, once a referee declares a game ended, the score is final. The Big Ten continues to stand by the officiating crew, maintaining that the clock was correctly reset after a defender made contact with the ball while in an out-of-bounds position.

Following the game, Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham noted that quarterback Bryce Underwood must show improvement to maintain his starting position. Meanwhile, the controversy has sparked debate regarding the accuracy and consistency of instant replay technology in college football.
