Michigan quarterback Tommy Carr leads comeback win over Penn State

Michigan Wolverines quarterback Tommy Carr led a second-half comeback to secure a 21-18 victory over Penn State, moving the team to a 4-2 record. The win followed a strategic halftime decision by head coach Kyle Whittingham to bench starting sophomore quarterback Bryce Underwood.

Underwood, who has struggled this season with a 58 percent completion rate and eight total turnovers through six games, completed only 5 of 11 passes for 43 yards in the first half. In contrast, Carr orchestrated three touchdown drives in the second half, including a decisive 12-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Carr, the grandson of legendary Michigan coach Lloyd Carr, finished his second career appearance with 47 passing yards and 38 rushing yards. Despite the benching, Underwood was noted for his leadership, celebrating Carr’s success from the sidelines and supporting him on social media.
