Michigan State Athletics announces leadership and coaching changes

Michigan State University has announced several leadership and staff changes within its athletic department. Jon Palumbo, the current Spartan Ventures CEO and former interim athletic director, is departing the university to join the University of Kentucky as Executive Deputy Athletics Director and Deputy CEO of Champions Blue, LLC. Eric Reinke, previously the Chief Business Officer for Spartan Ventures, will serve as the interim CEO. Athletic director Dan Bartholomae and deputy AD Jen Smith will temporarily manage some of Palumbo’s former responsibilities.

In the baseball program, head coach Jake Boss Jr. has appointed Daniel Schlereth as the new director of operations, technology, and pitching development. Schlereth, a former Major League pitcher and first-round draft pick, joins the Spartans following two seasons as a pitching coach at USF. He previously coached at Western Michigan and played for the Detroit Tigers.
