Collegiate athletics kick off 2026 season with various results
Various collegiate athletic programs have begun their 2026 seasons across volleyball, soccer, and golf.
In volleyball, No. 12 Arizona State swept No. 14 Minnesota in three sets at the State Farm Women's College Volleyball Showcase, led by Una Vajagić’s career-high 20 kills. Other notable results include Michigan State’s five-set victory over Miami, Marshall University’s double sweeps of Niagara and Bucknell, and Toledo’s 3-0 win over Bradley.
In men's soccer, No. 22 Ohio State defeated Memphis 2-0. The match was decided after Memphis received a red card, leading to an Isaiah Chisholm penalty goal and a subsequent strike by Aaron Hurge.
