Michigan tight end Zack Marshall apologizes for leaked messages
Michigan tight end Zack Marshall has issued a public apology following the leak of group messages in which he criticized offensive coordinator Jason Beck and the team’s offensive scheme. The messages surfaced on social media after the Wolverines’ 20-14 loss to Minnesota.
In the leaked texts, Marshall allegedly claimed that Beck told the tight ends that none of them were valuable to the offense. He also criticized the offensive scheme and suggested that Beck’s coaching was a problem for quarterback Bryce Underwood. Marshall compared Beck unfavorably to former head coach Sherrone Moore.
In a statement posted to X, Marshall expressed regret for his “inappropriate comments,” stating that he “pointed fingers instead of taking accountability” during an emotional moment. A spokesperson for the Michigan athletic department confirmed that coaches are aware of the situation and have discussed the matter with Marshall.
The Wolverines currently hold a 3-2 record and have lost their first two Big Ten conference games, failing to score 20 points in four of their five games this season.
