Warren flea market vendor killed in vehicle dispute
Zarick Lamont Johnson, 41, has been charged with first-degree murder following a fatal dispute at the County Line Trade Center flea market in Warren, Michigan. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 26, and involved 59-year-old vendor Mirhad Cehic, a Bosnian immigrant who had lived in the U.S. for over 30 years.
According to Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido, the confrontation began after Johnson and a woman returned to the market, allegedly disputing the functionality of a power washer purchased from Cehic earlier that day. Prosecutors allege that Johnson physically assaulted Cehic’s 53-year-old brother, Senad, before getting into a 2004 Chevrolet Express van. Johnson is accused of driving the vehicle toward Mirhad Cehic, striking him, reversing, and then driving forward again to pin him against a building wall.
Bystanders intervened and detained Johnson until police arrived. Cehic was transported to Henry Ford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Johnson has been denied bond and remains in custody at the Macomb County Jail. He faces additional charges, including misdemeanor assault and commission of a crime with a motor vehicle. The woman accompanying Johnson was also detained but has not faced charges.
