Michigan Wolverines face offensive struggles and difficult schedule
The Michigan Wolverines are facing significant challenges during their 2026 season under head coach Kyle Whittingham. Following two consecutive losses, the team holds a 3-2 overall record and a 0-2 record in Big Ten play.
Offensive struggles have been a primary concern, with the unit ranking poorly in total offense (No. 122), rushing (No. 100), passing (No. 111), and scoring (No. 106). Wide receiver J. J. Buchanan noted that offensive coordinator Jason Beck has urged the team to ‘do a little bit more’ to rectify the situation. Despite these offensive deficiencies, the Michigan defense remains highly ranked at No. 6 in total defense.
Looking ahead, the Wolverines face a difficult remaining schedule. Upcoming matchups include a road game against Rutgers and an in-state rivalry game against Michigan State.
