Michigan escapes Western Michigan upset via controversial Hail Mary

The game appeared to end when Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood threw an incomplete Hail Mary pass as the stadium clock hit zero, prompting Western Michigan players to celebrate what seemed to be a historic upset.

However, officials reviewed the play and determined that Western Michigan defender Micah Davis touched the ball while established out of bounds before the clock expired. This ruling restored one second to the game clock, allowing Michigan one final play. Underwood utilized the extra second to throw a 47-yard touchdown pass to JJ Buchanan for a walk-off victory.
