Michoacan Lawmaker Introduces Child‑Focused Justice Reform Bill

PAN deputy Teresita Herrera Maldonado presented a legislative initiative in Michoacan to amend the state Children’s Rights Law and the Organic Law of the State Judicial Power. The proposal seeks to guarantee effective, safe and accessible participation of minors and persons with disabilities in judicial processes, including provisions for confidentiality, specialized spaces, reasonable adjustments and protective mechanisms. Herrera emphasized that the reforms aim to prevent revictimisation and ensure that children can express their views without fear, making such safeguards mandatory rather than merely administrative. The bill would make specialized facilities for minors in court proceedings obligatory and integrate protection measures into the legal framework, promoting a more humane and inclusive justice system for the state's youngest citizens.
