Michoacán boosts transport: electric‑vehicle law and record airport passenger growth

The Congress of Michoacán approved reforms to the State Mobility and Road Safety Law, formally recognizing electromobility as a guiding principle for public transport policy. The amendment defines electric‑vehicle technologies, charging infrastructure and public‑awareness actions, aiming to cut emissions and provide a cleaner, more efficient transport system.

During the same period, the International Airport of Morelia recorded historic passenger volumes. In June 2026, 121,900 travelers passed through the airport, a 17.5% increase over the previous year, and the first half of 2026 saw a total of 772,100 passengers, up 12% year‑over‑year. Domestic traffic rose 7.9% while international traffic surged 27.7%, reflecting strengthened air connectivity and tourism promotion.
