Michoacán Congress approves resignation of Attorney General
The Congress of the State of Michoacán has unanimously approved the resignation of State Attorney General Carlos Torres Piña. The decision was reached during an extraordinary session by the Seventy-Sixth Legislature.
In his resignation letter, Torres Piña stated that his decision follows a “personal and responsible reflection on the next stage of my public life” and a desire to pursue new projects to contribute to the welfare of Michoacán citizens. The Justice Commission determined that the resignation is unilateral and voluntary, noting that constitutional frameworks do not mandate that an official remain in office until the end of their term.
