Michoacán distributes 800,000 pairs of sneakers to students

The government of Michoacán is implementing the ‘Jalo a Estudiar, Jalo por la Paz’ program to support secondary school students. Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla announced that over 800,000 pairs of sneakers have been distributed during the current administration to encourage school attendance and promote physical activity.

For the current year, approximately 202,000 students across 1,728 secondary and telesecundaria schools are set to receive free sneakers. This initiative aims to alleviate the economic burden on families and prevent school dropout rates caused by a lack of resources.

In addition to footwear, officials reported the distribution of 10,000 guitars across more than 600 secondary schools to promote arts and culture. The state education department also highlighted the impact of the Rita Cetina Scholarship, which is part of a broader package of 842,000 supports across various educational levels in the region.
