Michoacán dog named Max goes viral playing in Hurricane Polo waves

A black mixed-breed dog named Max gained viral attention after being filmed playing near heavy surf in Playa Azul, Michoacán, caused by Hurricane Polo. The footage showed the animal running close to large waves that were reaching coastal businesses and structures.

While the video sparked concern among social media users regarding the animal's safety, local staff from the Capi Beach restaurant identified Max as a local dog who is accustomed to the sea. He has earned the nickname “hurricane hunter” among residents. Following the viral clip, Max was seen on land unharmed.

Hurricane Polo did not make direct landfall but generated significant swells and heavy rain along the Pacific coast of Mexico, affecting Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, and Guerrero. Authorities in the region closed beaches and suspended maritime activities due to the dangerous conditions.
