Michoacán Electoral Institute installs new General Council

The new General Council of the Electoral Institute of Michoacán (IEM) has formally assumed its duties following a swearing-in session. Four new electoral counselors—Flor Juana Mendoza Zarate, Sandra Nayeli Rangel Jiménez, Ian Aguilar Madrigal, and Jorge Luis Hernández Altamirano—were appointed by the National Electoral Institute (INE).

During the session, led by provisional president Selene Lizbeth González Medina, representatives from various political parties called for dialogue and openness from the new council. The parties requested that decision-making processes remain transparent and avoid arriving at sessions with pre-arranged agreements. They also highlighted upcoming challenges for the electoral process, specifically regarding security.
