Michoacán governor race: Carlos Torres Piña leads polls as mayor prepares exit report

Recent polls in Michoacán show former state prosecutor Carlos Torres Piña as the frontrunner for the 2027 gubernatorial election, obtaining roughly 25‑31 % support across several surveys. The same polling firms indicate Morena as the leading party with about 35 % of the vote.

Meanwhile, incumbent mayor Alfonso Martínez Alcázar of Morelia is finalising his second government report, scheduled for mid‑August. He said the report will be his last official act before seeking a leave of absence to pursue the state governorship in 2027.
